Each spring, The Kreager Law Firm supports the Bexar County Medical Society Foundation’s scholarship program. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical, nursing and other health-related scholarships to Bexar County area high school and college students.

The Kreager Law Firm established an annual scholarship in honor of Dianna Burns-Banks, M.D., a past president of the Bexar County Medical Society, because she exemplifies professional and community service and serves as a role model for students entering health care.

Mike Kreager was the 2008-2009 Board Chairman of The San Antonio Medical Foundation and continues his service as a Lifetime Trustee of the Board. The Medical Foundation’s mission is to improve health care, advance biomedical science and enhance the well-being of San Antonions. The Foundation spearheaded a legislative effort between 1947 and 1959 to bring a medical school and county teaching hospital to San Antonio.

On June 22, 2009, the Foundation hosted a luncheon at Oak Hills Country Club to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the legislation that established the University of Texas Medical Center, now the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and thus brought to fruition the South Texas Medical Center. This Medical Center now has 44 medical treatment, education and research facilities and had 4,882,459 outpatient visits in 2008. The Foundation holds another 280 acres for future growth of the South Texas Medical Center.
